Some basic information about this amazing wonder of the world:
Machu Pikchu â Old hill – are the ruins of an iconic city in the Peruvian Andes. They are located on a mountain saddle 400 meters above the river Urubamba at a height 2430 m n. m. Assumed, that Machu Picchu was built by PachacĂștec Yupanqui (1438 up to 1472) đ The city was later abandoned and completely dilapidated, although it was known to the locals, for the rest of the world it has fallen into oblivion.
Since its discovery, the city has become a major tourist attraction in Peru and South America. V roce 1983 has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As the city was never discovered by the Spanish conquistadors, has not been stolen and damaged đ
On 7. July 2007 Machu Picchu was included among the seven new wonders of the world đ
Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style using block masonry made of machined stones without the use of mortar or other binder.. The main buildings in the city are Temple of the wind, Citadela a Rulers' room. The city had no administrative, military or commercial importance. Why the Incas built the city, no one convincingly demonstrated.
