a little about history ✍
Over 250 years of family tradition.
It's the story of a company, who has gained a unique reputation with his skills and passion for wine production and today has the prestige of the world's leading champagne producer.
It all started with Claudia Moët, born 1683. As a descendant of an old family settled in the Champagne region, promoted to aristocratic status by Charles VII.
V roce 1446, founded by buyer and trader Claude Moët in 1743 own business. He was later taken over by his son Claude-Louis-Nicolas (1719-1792), and even later the grandson and pioneer of Jean-Rémy Moët (1758-1841).
During the raging Napoleonic Wars, Jean-Rémy traveled the world and opened the first European markets. And the business expansion of the family business could begin.
Labyrinth of underground cellars, excavated into the chalk, has grown in parallel with the success of Moët & Chandon. At present, that means 28 km of cellars.
The vineyards are divided into three areas around Reims and Epernay:
Mountain of Reims,
Marne Valley,
White Coast.
It is a tradition to use three different vines, each of which specifically contributes to the production of a harmonic mixture. Moët Vineyards & Chandon are located at 800 hectares of land, which means, that the company Moët & Chandon is the largest single wine grower in Champagne, where it represents one quarter of the total wine-growing area. The area covers the entire area of this name with 13 that 17 Grands Crus. This allows the company to obtain wines from the really best and widest range of vineyards.
Champagne Moët & Chandon belongs to the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) – the world's largest luxury goods company, owning a unique portfolio with more than 60 prestigious brands.
